How to Make a Claim
How does a claim work in practice?
Acquinex understand that clients purchase insurance policies so that should the unexpected happen, the applicable policy pays out.
We take claims handling seriously and have an experienced team who manage and triage all claims, working with clients to have their claims expeditiously paid.
We underwrite on behalf of a panel of insurers, but to ensure an efficient, bilateral claims process, our insurers fully delegate claims settlement authority to the “lead insurer”, who has authority to agree all claim settlements on behalf of all panel insurers.
The insured would notify Acquinex of a claim (in accordance with the terms and conditions of their policy).
Acquinex would in turn notify the panel of insurers responsible for the respective policy and then work with the insured and lead insurer to ensure sufficient information is made available, enabling them to evaluate the facts, substance and quantum of the claim.
Acquinex has authority from our lead insurer to handle the Claims process including confirming notice validity, exchanging information requests and appointing counsel.
Acquinex will liaise with the lead insurer (and their counsel where applicable) until the outcome is determined.

FAQ's
You would need to notify Acquinex of a claim/potential claim in line with the policy terms and conditions, but typically as soon as you became aware of a potential claim.
Please refer to your policy for specific claims information. Acquinex will then review the claim notice and ask any questions required to confirm its position.
Generally you should notify a claim as soon as reasonably practicable after you become aware of:
- any fact or circumstance which has or could reasonably be expected to erode the excess;
- any fact or circumstance which has or could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim; or
- a claim.
The notice should describe, to the best of your knowledge after reasonable enquiry and to the extent that relevant information is available at the date of the notice, the facts and circumstances relating to the claim.
A notification shall not be invalid for failing to provide all necessary facts and circumstances and other details of the claim.
Our preference is to engage with clients at an early stage for any claim, so that we can work together to achieve the best outcome, even if this means notification before it has been possible to establish all the relevant factors pertaining to a potential claim.
Acquinex’s panel of insurers will pay the claim payment directly to the insured.
Acquinex will endeavour in finding an agreeable settlement and included within the policy terms and conditions the insured will have a right to challenge the decision either in court or via arbitration.
